Every product in the warehouse, or quantity of a product, is assigned to a location. For many reasons warehouse personnel find it necessary to move products to different locations, and this can be accomplished within Access 1000 by selecting the Move function on the hand-held terminal.

The Move function is similar to the Put-away function in that the user can allow the system to direct the move based on prior input at the Administrative PC, or the user can make all the decisions involved in the move.

To execute a move, the user first scans the location bar code where product is to be moved from, then scans the product bar code for the product to be moved, then enters the quantity of the product to move. The product/quantity is physically placed on the vehicle, and similarly, the user can pick up more product/quantity from the same or other locations before taking it to destination locations.

At the destination location, the user goes through the same steps. Any quantity of any product picked up can be scanned into any location, simply by scanning the destination locations, scanning the product and keying the quantity physically put away.

If move operations need to be cancelled, the operator simply enters out of any screen.
