Development of the Access 1000 family of Warehouse Management Systems began in late 1992. From the beginning we were determined to provide a fast, reliable, feature-rich radio-frequency system at a reasonable cost.

Our first significant decision was to use Symbol Technologies RF equipment. We were familiar with Symbol equipment and knew it to be reliable, available, and serviceable. We were confortable with Symbol as the largest supplier of bar code systems. They had the necessary staff for development and support, and they could be depended upon to provide a rich selection of compatible equipment. We have maintained our relationship with Symbol, and they have proven to be a superior supplier.

For programming hand-helds, we use the Microsoft C language and Symbol's Series 3000 Application Development Kit. For fast development of RF hand-held software, we use Symbol's Terminal Enabler Program.

To ensure reliably rapid RF hand-held response times, our RF network control interface is written using TCP/IP network protocol. This enables us to provide sub-second response time for most transactions.

We selected Microsoft's Visual Studio.NET as the application development tool, because it is the fastest and most reliable system available for PC-based mission-critical applications. We use Microsoft SQL Server because of the ease of development and speed of execution.
